In France, the trial of Cardinal Philippe Barbarin ended Thursday at the Criminal Court of Lyon. After 4 days of hearing, the decision was reserved until March 7th. Cardinal Barbarin is accused by nine victims of having kept silent while he was aware of the pedophile acts of a priest of his diocese. The prosecutor did not require a conviction against the cardinal, considering that the facts were prescribed. But for some plaintiffs, this lawsuit is already a victory in itself.

For me, in any case, it will change things a lot. I believe that we have done a rather exceptional job in enabling hundreds of victims throughout France to be able to reveal the suffering they had suffered and experienced. To be able to bring all this to justice, if only on the public square, for me, it is a culmination.
