According to EFE, diplomats headed Colombian consulates located in the cities of San Antonio, San Cristobal, Puerto Ayacucho and San Carlos del Zulia.

It clarifies that the consuls crossed the border on foot through the nearest checkpoints and returned to Colombia.

Earlier, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said that Venezuela is breaking off diplomatic and political relations with Colombia. He gave the staff of the Colombian Embassy in Caracas 24 hours to leave Venezuela.

During a speech in Caracas, Maduro called the Colombian leader Ivan Duque the devil.

Vladimir Travkin, editor-in-chief of the journal Latin America, commenting on the situation in Venezuela in an interview with NSN, said that much now depends on how the military behave.
