The fire that destroyed a building in northwestern Switzerland on Monday, November 26, killed six people, including two children.

Two children are among the six dead on Monday, November 26, in the fire that ravaged a building in Solothurn (northwestern Switzerland), said local police, claiming that all the victims are from Ethiopia and Eritrea.

According to the Swiss daily 20 Minutes , they were asylum seekers.

"The dead are four adults between 27 and 33 years old, a toddler and a child of school age" and were from Ethiopia and Eritrea, the police said in a statement. Three children are still in the hospital, she added.

"Improper use of smoker's articles" appears to have caused the fire that ravaged several apartments in this small three-story building, but the police did not give more details, stating that one person had been arrested.

The fire broke out around 2:00 am (01:00 GMT) in the night from Sunday to Monday.
