Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman may lose much of his powers and King Salman wants to reduce his son's powers and powers to make a decision, the Financial Times quoted Western officials as saying.

The Financial Times said Mohammed bin Salman's authority was under threat as he faced domestic attempts to curtail his powers following the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi at his consulate in Istanbul on January 2 and his body was not found.

Western officials have described Prince Mohammed bin Salman as a reckless, power-hungry young man who is trying to dominate the country and the region in general.

The British newspaper pointed out that King Salman was reducing his son's enthusiastic support for the White House plan for peace in the Middle East, in what is known as the deal century, but a person close to the government denied plans in this regard.

A Western official said he wanted moves on human rights and detainees, adding that everyone was looking forward to progress in Yemen and that the kingdom was moving to do something.
