A former commander of the FARC who has been in hiding for half a year has heard about it via a video message. In it, Ivan Marquez accuses the Colombian government of violating the peace agreements.

Marquez, who participated in the peace talks, thinks that members of the former guerrilla movement are not sufficiently protected, reports BBC News . He says that dozens of FARC members who have deposited the weapons have been killed.

Last year he went into hiding, after another FARC leader in Colombia was arrested in April at the request of the United States for drug smuggling. Marquez sat in the senate on behalf of the FARC, which is now a political party.

In the video Marquez says nothing about his whereabouts. He is still behind the peace agreement that he and the government concluded in 2016. He also puts his hand in his own bosom and says that in the last phase of the peace talks he made a mistake by not sufficiently securing the "political, economic and social integration of the fighters".
