The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) yesterday opened a major bridge on the Expo Road at its intersection with Al-Asayel Road, as part of the fifth phase of the road network development project.

Al Tayer briefed the Executive Director of the Traffic and Roads Agency, Eng. Maitha Bin Oday, on the progress of the first phase of the project to develop the road network to the Expo, which reached 43% Mohammed bin Zayed Road with the Expo Road, to the intersection of the bridge provides free traffic in each direction, where will expand and raise the street Expo through the implementation of two bridges with a six-lane in each direction with the provision of movements and free connections to ensure the smooth flow of traffic from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Towards the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and vice versa As traffic from Expo Road towards Sheikh Zayed Road, as well as to facilitate the traffic flow from the north to the Expo Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road towards Dubai and Expo Street south to Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road towards Abu Dhabi.

Al Tayer said that the first phase also includes the construction of 27 kilometers of road on the Expo Road, the expansion of four routes to six tracks in each direction, the establishment of service roads in both directions, and the implementation of four bridges in parts, to provide traffic to and from Expo Street Towards the exhibition site.

He added that to complete the work of the remaining bridges within the scope of the first phase of the work was inaugurated a traffic crossing on the ninth of February, at the intersection of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road with the street Expo, contributed to the diversion in the flow of traffic leading to the Expo site.

Al Tayer confirmed that all projects related to the hosting of Dubai Expo 2020 will be conducted according to the approved timetable.
