In the Democratic Republic of Congo, the campaign is underway for governor elections in 24 of the country's 26 provinces. In Lomami and Maniema, this competition is limited, since there is only one ticket governor / vice-governor in the running. In both cases, the Electoral Commission retained only the lists endorsed by the PPRD, the main party of the pro-Kabila coalition. This unique candidacy mainly causes a stir in Kindu, one of the strongholds of the former president. The candidates invalidated by the Ceni have seized justice.

In Maniema, no candidate of the opposition or the presidential party, the stake is elsewhere for Me Stéphane Kamundala, the president of the civil society:

" We want to show, really, that it is Kinshasa who manages Maniema and that Maniema can not say anything contrary to what comes from Kinshasa. And that's the conflict. Everyone who sulks, who believes that we are once again imposed a governor. Which is not good. "

In that province, in the last election in March 2018, MPPs could not impose their choice. It was a customary chief who had beaten the candidate presented by the pro-Kabila coalition. However, Prosper Tunda Kasongo was never able to run the province because his election was canceled on the grounds that he was a customary chief.

The MPs who had fought for the departure of the all-powerful Pascal Tutu Salumu, accused of mismanagement, finally had to deal with his vice-governor. It has effect the interim governorate until the last days.
