For the third year, the town of Taillis (near Vitré) has received a prize in the departmental contest of cities and villages in bloom in the category of municipalities from 1 000 to 3 499 inhabitants.

"It's a great recognition of the work done by municipal employees and the entire team of volunteers. It's also a great reward for the whole council, " says Marie-Françoise Verger, the mayor. Throughout the year, these volunteers maintain hiking trails, eco-grazing, participate in the development of spaces and water and clean the 46 jardinières.

The town has just received the first prize departmental competition of towns and villages in the flower category of municipalities from 1000 to 3499 inhabitants. As in 2016, the year of his first participation in the contest. Last year, she was third. The prize was officially awarded to the Department, in Rennes, on October 11th.

Adapt to lack of water

To choose, the jury examines everything related to planning and actions carried out in the sustainable development framework. Moreover, the town develops soft links. "In 2016, the development of the Place de l'Église with, among other things, the opening of the stream had seduced the jury , said the mayor. The town makes efforts to develop the town center and make it pleasant to the inhabitants. "

This year the flower arrangement of the planters has been changed "to change the style, but we also find that it rains less and less. The choice of plants and soil is therefore very important, "say Philippe Jeuland and Thibault Niez, municipal agents.

Another novelty this year: small developments for the entrances of the village. "The very positive feedback from residents is also very rewarding," insists Thibault Diez. "We do our job as we always did, long before we entered the competition. But the vision of the new elected is important in this incentive, " says Philippe Jeuland.
