Greta Thunberg, the young Swede on strike for the climate every Friday in front of the Swedish Parliament and initiator of the movement of regular youth protests in Europe, asks European leaders to turn their words into action.

From our correspondent in Brussels , Pierre Benazet

Sixteen-year-old Greta Thunberg did not mince words in front of the European leaders and in particular the President of the Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker. Thanks to its reputation as an inspirer of the European youth movement, it has tackled Europe's greenhouse gas reduction targets. They are, according to her, insufficient, even if pushed to 45% as requested by the Commission.

For Greta Thunberg, we must double current European efforts and reduce emissions by 80% by 2030: " Some say we are fighting for our future, but that's not true, we are fighting for the future of all. And if you think we should be in school instead, then take our place on the street and strike, or better, join us to speed up the movement. And if you still say that we are wasting valuable study time, let me remind you that our political leaders have wasted decades of denial and inaction. We have begun to clean up your mess and we will not stop until we finish. "

And to support the European mobilization, Greta Thunberg goes this Friday, February 22 in Paris with young Belgians to parade alongside young French.
