Despite the successive abandonments of other companies, CMN and HydroQuest continue the development of their tidal turbines.

"If OpenHydro has thrown in the towel, it does not mean that the sector must be considered as having no future," said Pierre Balmer, the boss of Mechanical Engineering Normandy (CMN) in Cherbourg (Manche) . His company, associated with the Grenoble-based company HydroQuest, develops, at sea and in rivers, the technology which consists of producing electricity with the strength
