After counting 88 percent of the votes, the right-wing populist Jair Bolsonaro was unreachable in the election in Brazil with just under 56 percent in front of his left runner-opponent Fernando Haddad.

Bolsonaro, known by many as the "Trump of Brazil," caused outrage in the election campaign with misogynist, racist and homophobic expressions. He has also repeatedly expressed admiration for the military dictatorship from 1964 to 1985.
