Banks: Damage caused by data theft at ATMs at record low

TIME ONLINE | News, backgrounds and debates

Frankfurt / Main (dpa) - The damage caused by data theft at ATMs in Germany fell last year to the record low of 1.44 million euros. A year earlier, it was still 2.2 million euros. The Frankfurt organization Euro Kartensysteme explains the decline in gross damage with the fact that modern security technology makes it increasingly difficult for criminals to spy on and misuse card data and secret numbers of bank customers.
