Turkey and the United States on Friday lifted mutual sanctions simultaneously, which were imposed in August, which reflected positively on the Turkish lira, which appreciated against the dollar.

The US Treasury Department announced in a statement the lifting of sanctions on the Turkish Interior Ministers Suleiman Suwailo and Justice Abdulhamid Gul.

On the other hand, Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesman Aksoi announced that Ankara had lifted sanctions for US justice ministers Jeff Sessions and Internal Security Christine Nielsen under reciprocity.

Aksovi pointed out that Ankara had imposed sanctions on the two ministers in response to a similar US move on August 1 last.

The improved relations between the two sides after the second Criminal Court in the state of Izmir in mid-October to imprison the American pastor Andrew Branson three years, and lifted the travel ban and house arrest. The Branson trial has caused a major political crisis between the two countries.

Immediately after the lifting of the sanctions, the pound rose to a three-month high against the dollar and improved by 1.7% to 5.4,200 lira against the dollar, compared with 5.51 lira at closing last Thursday, recovering from a record low in August.
