The Sharjah Criminal Court has charged a man of Asian nationality for kidnapping an eight-year-old boy to recover his half-million dirhams of money, a debt owed to the family of the child.

The court accused the accused of kidnapping the child and demanded a ransom for his return. He denied the charge and said that he was a friend of the family five years ago. He wanted them to pay half a million dirhams to him. The child was with him and stayed for four hours with him. During this period, the mother reported the loss and abduction of her son and was caught by the police at the bus station in Sharjah accompanied by the child.

The defendant said he had asked the family for the money more than once, but they did not return it, pointing out that he works in a well known company and large and good physical condition.

The prosecution requested the defendant to be charged with the charges against him. The court decided to summon the child and his mother to listen to their statements at the next hearing on January 6.
