The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), in coordination and cooperation with Nakheel, has signed a project to implement three bridges leading to the Deira Islands, which are connected to the existing bridge that crosses the waterway and consists of six tracks in each direction at a cost of AED 447 million. The Director General of the Authority, Mattar Al Tayer, said that the project aims to improve the entrances and exits of the Deira Islands at the intersection of Al Khaleej and Abu Baker Al Siddiq Streets. The total length of the bridges towards Deira 1.6 km, in addition to a bridge with a capacity of six tracks, length of 140 meters, with a slope of the bridge on the island of Deira. Work will also be carried out on the existing bridge, including paving works, building barriers, traffic signs, services and street lighting.

"The project includes a two-lane bridge, providing free traffic from the Deira Islands to the North Gulf Road, and another three-lane bridge, providing free traffic from the Deira Islands to the Gulf Road to the south and a two-lane bridge providing free traffic from the Gulf Road to the South. Deira Islands, pointing out that the bridge crossing on the Gulf Road, allows the provision of two future bridges towards Abu Bakr Siddiq Street ».

"The scope of the work also includes upgrading the Gulf Street with a length of 1.8 km, from the Abuhail junction north to Al Baraha Hospital in the south, by adding light-emitting intersections at the intersection of Al Khaleej Street with Abuheel and Abu Baker Al Siddiq instead of existing rotors. The Deira Islands project, developed by Nakheel, is Dubai's new waterfront. It consists of four artificial islands that have been filled into the waters of the Arabian Gulf, along the coast of Deira, with an area of ​​about 17 million square meters, In the Deira area. It includes the implementation of hundreds of hotels, furnished apartments, mixed-use buildings and marinas. The project is expected to have a population of about 250,000 and 80,000 employees.

A traffic study expected that the traffic generated by the project will reach about 110 thousand during the rush hour, which requires the implementation of a huge infrastructure for the road network and public transport systems. Three bridges will be provided to the main entrances and exits of the project crossing the waterway, The Gulf with each of the streets of Abu Bakr Siddiq and Abuheel, and the third entrance extends from the port road along the port Rashid.

The provision of direct and free entrances has been taken into account through intersections at all entrances to the project.
