Action students Lochem does not influence research 'porn-watching teacher'

At the Staring College in Lochem, 150 to 200 children took action Monday against the teacher who was sent away last week. The actions will have no influence on the research that the school does to the incident, says school board member Nico Woonink in conversation with NU.nl.

At the Staring College in Lochem, 150 to 200 children took action Monday against the teacher who was sent away last week. The actions will have no influence on the research that the school does to the incident, says school board member Nico Woonink in conversation with NU.nl.

The teacher was put on hold last week by the school after seeing pornographic images on the digital whiteboard during the lesson.

The sympathy of the pupils, according to school manager Woonink, however, have no influence on the decision to be made about the future of the teacher. "We will find out what the events have been and on that basis we will draw a conclusion and make decisions", says Woonink in conversation with NU.nl.

The school examines the circumstances of the event and whether the teacher may have been housed there. A student would have asked the teacher to look up a pornographic term, after which the images appeared on the board.

"At the moment we do not have any indications that the person in question is being misled", says school manager Nico Woonink in conversation with NU.nl. The driver expects to complete the investigation in the coming days.

Pupils get up en masse for support

After the lessons around 10 a.m., 150 to 200 pupils went to the schoolyard to show their support to the out-of-school teacher. According to the students, the teacher did nothing wrong.

"Mister is being blamed for the whole of the Netherlands for a clumsy incident", writes a student in an email to Omroep Gelderland. "He himself will know that it was a mistake, but he did not do anything criminal, yet this is so blown up in the news as if it were a crime.
