Apple may turn to India for the manufacture of upcoming iPhone phones, in part because of looming threats and the effects of the US-China trade war.

From the beginning of 2019, iPhone phones will be assembled at Foxconn's factory in Sriobirumbudur, Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, India.

While Foxconn (the Taiwan company contracted by Apple for the manufacture of iPhone) already makes phones in India, this will be the first time the company manufactures iPhone phones in the country.

Foxconn will spend $ 365 million to expand the plant and possibly create as many as 25,000 new jobs in India, the country's minister of industry told Reuters.

According to another source, the expansion will allow Apple to manufacture in India the most expensive models of its phones, such as the series of phones for iPhone X.

As the largest electronics manufacturing company in the world, Foxconn has factories all over the world, including the United States. However, the current US-China trade war has played a major role in the company's future strategy. Foxconn is currently looking to open a new production base in Vietnam in preparation for the effects of the commercial war.

Apple already collected some low-cost iPhone devices in India such as iPhone 4S and iPhone 6S, but this was done by another manufacturer. This latest development with Foxconn may be Apple's move to expand its market share in India, the fastest-growing smartphone market in the world.
