The Sharjah Criminal Court has heard a case in which an Arab youth was charged with assaulting a woman of Asian nationality on a highway in Sharjah and resisting police while trying to arrest him.

A witness in the case, who works for the Sharjah Police, said he had received a report of a quarrel in the Al-Majaz district of Sharjah. He went to the shop and found the defendant in an abnormal condition, assaulting an Asian woman. While trying to restrain him, the defendant resisted and assaulted him, refusing to ride the police car, but another person accompanying him helped him into the vehicle.

The witness stated that he did not file a complaint against the accused, and did not want anything from him, since he was not hurt, and was not harmed by the resistance of the accused.

The court faced charges against the defendant, saying he could not remember what he had been told, because he was drunk, noting that he only remembered breaking the glass of the police car. In turn, the court reserved the case for judgment on January 16.
