Khartoum-Alawia Mokhtar

The Sudanese met with the Syrian refugee Abu Karam, who is suffering from a disability, who modified a taxi to suit his circumstances, to work on it to meet the needs of his family, which was provided with him from Syria to escape the scourge of war there.

The circumstances of the war in Syria led Abu Karam Mohammed Abdo, 60, and his family to settle in Sudan after losing his home and business.

The man arrived in Khartoum a year and a half ago with his seven sons after long suffering during which he spent six years traveling with marginal professions he did not entrust to secure travel tickets to escape his family from the war in his country.

Abu Karam was paralyzed by polio since he was six months old, which was a challenge to him, and by his nature, he was able to rely on himself to be his dad, starting from scratch in Sudan.

Many have tried to dissuade Abu Karam from introducing a fundamental change in the leadership of a taxi he bought after he arrived in Sudan and adapted it to fit his situation, so that he could lead it with his hands, but finally succeeded with the help of a blacksmith in Khartoum.

Abu Karam is roaming the Sudanese capital by a dilapidated and modified taxi (a minibus with seven passengers). He is transporting passengers after news of their entrances and exits. Some of them return to the new leadership as the first in the country, while others do not hide their astonishment.

"When I came to Sudan, all I had to do was find a suitable job for my health to support my family and achieve a better future for my children, especially with Sudan's living conditions that weighed heavily on its citizens," Abu Karam told Al Jazeera.net.

"When I came to Sudan, I bought a taxi to transport passengers and earn enough money for my needs and my sons. I used a number of mechanics in Khartoum to modify the car so that I could drive it with my own hands, especially since I had already driven a taxi in Syria after Modified ".

"Everyone saw the impossibility of implementing the idea, but I did not give up and went to Haddad and explained the idea and I was with him step by step until he succeeded in the process of amendment without being affected by the basic engines." With this modification, the driving process has become a side of the steering wheel, with a gasoline handle and a special brake.
