Director of the Center for Senior Citizens in Ajman, under the Ministry of Community Development, Hamda Al Shamsi, said that the number of residents of the center currently stands at six senior citizens, four men and two women.

She told Emirates Emirates today that the ministry is working to encourage senior citizens to live in a family and social environment between their families and neighbors, and focus their efforts on reducing the number of inmates in the center to the maximum extent by accepting cases under exceptional and specific conditions.

Al Shamsi explained that the conditions of admission to the center stipulate that he is a citizen, and he is over 60 years of age. He does not have a husband or his servant, and social and medical research confirms his need to live in the center.

She said that the specialized teams in the ministry are working to train and rehabilitate the family of senior citizens and those who serve on the roads and methods of health care and psychological correct, to ensure their care, according to the best standards of human life dignified, pointing out that the permanent residence of senior citizens in the center limited to a few cases.

Established in 1982, the Citizen's Senior Citizen Center in Ajman is a federal social institution of the Ministry of Community Development. It hosts senior citizens of both sexes on specific conditions, most notably the absence of a dependents of first degree relatives.

Al Shamsi pointed out that the center provides integrated services of social, health and psychological care for its guests, in addition to benefiting 110 senior citizens from the physiotherapy services, activities and events organized by the Center on an ongoing basis.

She stressed that the goal of the center is to shelter the needy from senior citizens, in accordance with the procedures of the law of the rights of senior citizens, to provide them with social, psychological and health care, to invest their leisure time and to allow them to practice any work consistent with their experiences and tendencies.

Al-Shamsi added that the center works to strengthen the relationship between senior citizens and community members by organizing various activities and activities that contribute to their social adjustment and psychological compatibility. The Center works to strengthen relations with public and private institutions working in the care of senior citizens, Society on aging and its problems (challenges and solutions).

The center's services include accommodation, social, psychological and health care, daily physical and occupational therapy, as well as organizing recreational and therapeutic trips for senior citizens, receiving visits from individuals, organizing celebrations of various events, receiving visits to schools and various institutions and associations. .

In the last four years, the number of applications for residency in the Center of Senior Citizens has reached 37, 14 of them in 2015 and 12 in 2016. The number has fallen to three in the past year and has risen to eight this year. The Center's employees review the submitted data, inform the applicant of the result, and follow up the rest of the required procedures, if accepted. in the center.
