Dubai Cares, one of the global initiatives of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has announced that it has launched 183 programs worth AED 787 million and 39,000 dirhams since its inception, bringing a positive impact on the lives of 18 million and 76,000 beneficiaries in 57 countries. Last year, 24 new programs were launched in 16 developing countries, including four new countries - Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua.

She told Emirates Today that she is implementing a series of initiatives and programs in conjunction with the Year of Tolerance, based on the implementation of a number of volunteer programs within and outside the country, increasing educational programs in developing countries, and spreading the concepts and values ​​of tolerance.

Dubai Cares confirmed that its quality programs in Tolerance Year will also include participation in international events related to supporting and enhancing education opportunities in developing and poor countries.

Tariq Mohammed Al Gurg, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Cares, said that the Foundation built and renovated 2029 classrooms and schools until the end of last year. It also trained 118,873 teachers, provided 782 water wells and drinking water sources and constructed 6055 school toilets . It also provided meals to 484,490 children, established 7206 associations for parents and teachers, and more than 34 million and 4,000 children were infected with intestinal worms through disease control activities in both stand-alone and national programs.

He pointed out that Dubai Cares organized 16 courses of the "Volunteer in the UAE" initiative throughout the country last year, twice the initiatives it organized in 2017. As part of the "Volunteer in the UAE" initiative, two courses were organized under the title « Back to School », which provided 50 thousand school bags, including school tools for children affected by the Syrian crisis in Jordan, in addition to providing 10,000 school bags for families in the UAE. The Foundation also hosted courses to support motivated students in Dubai and support non-profit schools.

Initiatives

Dubai Cares has launched successful fundraising initiatives and partnerships with individuals and institutions in the UAE and has secured pledges of AED 2,274,000 under the Build a School initiative to build 18 community schools in Cambodia, Malawi, Nepal, Palestine and Senegal.

The Foundation has also raised more than AED 3 million through the Dubai Cares Award for outstanding humanitarian work in schools. And raised 2.28 million dirhams under the UNRWA program of Zakat for poor Palestinian families in Gaza.
