US President Donald Trump has hidden details of his talks with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin for his own cabinet members, reports the Washington Post on the basis of diplomatic sources.

For example, at least in one case, Trump confiscated the notes from his own interpreter and forbade the interpreter to discuss the content of the conversation with other officials, according to the newspaper. He did this after his meeting with Putin in 2017 in Hamburg.

The then Foreign Minister Rex Tillerson was present at the meeting. Government officials discovered afterwards that Trump wanted to keep the conversation secret when they did not receive requested information from the interpreter in addition to Tillerson's notes.

According to the Washington Post , at least five interactions between Trump and Putin in the past two years, extensive reports are not available, not even in the form of secret documents. Trump's predecessors did communicate detailed reports of conversations.

The lack of openness is remarkable in the context of the Russian investigation. A special committee led by Robert Mueller examines possible Russian interference during the US presidential elections in 2016 and possible links between members of the Trump and Moscow campaign team. The final report is expected within the foreseeable future.
