The US Department of Justice has published a report on the results of the investigation of special prosecutor Robert Muller. The commission of the special prosecutor studied the case of the alleged “Russian interference” in the presidential election of 2016 and alleged ties with Moscow to the campaign headquarters of Donald Trump.

A letter with the main conclusions of the Muller Commission, Attorney General William Barr sent the representatives of the Senate Legal Committee. The document states that the investigators did not find any connection between Russia and representatives of the team of the 45th US President.

"The investigation of the special prosecutor did not show that the representative of Trump's campaign headquarters or any of the persons associated with him conspired or coordinated their actions with Russia in its attempts to influence the presidential elections in the US in 2016," the statement said.

In addition, the commission of the special prosecutor stressed that it did not reveal any actions by the American leader, which could be regarded as obstruction of justice.

"The report does not contain recommendations for bringing any other charges, and the Special Prosecutor has not put forward any hidden charges that have not yet been made public," emphasizes Barr in the letter.

At the same time, the document states that Russia allegedly tried to influence the presidential elections in the US in 2016 in two ways: using cyber attacks and the Internet Research Agency, which “spread disinformation” on social networks in order to disunite Americans and influence the results voting.

According to Müller, the hackers allegedly “linked to the Russian government” broke into the electronic mailboxes of the Democratic Party and its candidate Hillary Clinton, after which they disseminated the received information, including through the WikiLeaks website.

Meanwhile, the link between these actions and the Trump campaign team also failed to establish. However, it is alleged that a number of people associated with Russia have repeatedly offered assistance to Trump's headquarters.

It is noted that 19 lawyers were involved in the investigation, a team of 40 people, which included FBI agents, criminologists from the intelligence community and a number of other employees. At the same time, the special prosecutor issued more than 2.8 thousand subpoenas, almost 500 search warrants and over 230 requests for documentation, about 500 people were interrogated in total. In addition, requests for data were sent to 13 governments.

Recall that the investigation into the "Russian intervention" in the US presidential election lasted almost two years, starting in May 2017. Russian officials have repeatedly claimed that they had no influence on the political situation in America.

"Great day for America"

According to US President Donald Trump, the published findings from the Muller report were completely rehabilitated in the eyes of the public.

“There is no collusion, no obstacles (to justice. - RT ), full and final justification. Let's keep America great! ”He wrote on Twitter.

No Collusion, No Obstruction, Complete and Total EXONERATION. KEEP AMERICA GREAT!

The White House press secretary, Sarah Sanders, also called the findings of the Justice Ministry "a full-fledged excuse" for the American leader.

“A great day for America and for the president of the United States. After two years of wild anti-tramp hysteria, Trump and millions of his supporters were fully justified, ”she wrote on Twitter.

Trump's legal team is also completely satisfied with the publication of excerpts from the report, lawyer Jay Sekulov said.

“We believe that this is a complete justification of the president. Of course, it was completely obvious that there was no collusion, and this applies to Trump’s entire team, which leads to the question: “Why did it even begin at all?” Added another representative of Trump’s lawyers, former New York mayor Rudolf Giuliani.

At the same time, representatives of the Republican Party called on the Democrats to abandon further altercations with Trump and deal with real problems. According to the leader of the Republican minority in the House of Representatives Kevin McCarthy, the leaders of the Democratic Party acted irresponsibly, trying to harm the Trump administration.

Meanwhile, the leader of the republican majority in the Senate, Mitch McConnell, in his statement did not focus on the lack of collusion between Russia and the Trump team. Instead, a 77-year-old politician called Moscow’s efforts to allegedly “intervene” in US democratic processes “dangerous and alarming.”

“I welcome the contribution of the Special Prosecutor to our efforts aimed at a clearer understanding of the activities of Russia in this matter. And I look forward to continuing the work of the special Senate Committee on Intelligence on the threats to which our democratic institutions are exposed as a result of foreign interference, ”said McConnell in a statement.

In addition, the Democratic leader in the House of Representatives, Steny Hoyer, called for the publication of the full Muller report. According to him, he is not satisfied with a brief summary of the lack of collusion between Trump and the Russian Federation.

In addition, the joint statement was presented by Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, who also represent the Democratic Party. According to them, an excerpt from Muller’s report “raises as many questions as there are answers.”

“The fact that the report of the special lawyer Müller does not justify the president on such a serious charge as obstruction of justice shows how important it is that the full report and the main documentation be made public without any further delay,” they said.

“Now they will say that Russia intervened on its own perfidious initiative”

We add that the Kremlin is not yet ready to provide a detailed commentary on the Muller report, since they have not yet studied the document.

“We are not familiar with the report,” press secretary Dmitry Peskov quotes TASS quoting.

In turn, the chief editor of the RT channel Margarita Simonyan believes that the accusations against Russia after the completion of the investigation by the US special prosecutor will not be completed.

“That Muller did not find collusion is, of course, good. For Trump. And for us - completely purple. Because now they will say this: “There was no collusion, but Russia interfered anyway. On his own perfidious initiative. " Watch, ”Margarita Simonyan wrote in her Telegram channel.

A similar opinion is shared by the chairman of the Federation Council’s information policy commission, Alexey Pushkov. According to him, the representatives of the Democratic Party will not allow to negate the anti-Russian hysteria.

“Muller did not find evidence of Trump’s conspiracy with Moscow. But the Democrats will still shout that there was a conspiracy. Conspiracy theory maniacs do not need facts - they need to whip up passion and earn points on it. They are already saying that Trump has in some way influenced Muller. Circus, "- said the senator.
