"The Ministry is currently working to increase the safety and protection factors before and after the steel bridge, by placing metal barriers on both sides of the road in areas that are rising at the level of the ground, to ensure safety," Ahmed Al Hammadi, director of the Ministry's Roads Department, told Emirates Today. Road users.

He explained that all the work of the steel bridge has ended and is ready for opening in front of the vehicles, and the side openings were done before and after the bridge temporarily to serve the neighboring residential areas. After the completion of the increase of safety and protection factors, the vehicles will be allowed to use the steel bridge, pointing out that the bridge is tall 32.37 meters, with a capacity of 2000 vehicles per hour. It has economic advantages compared to concrete bridges. It reduces 50% of the implementation time and has a default life of 104 years without maintenance.

He added that the circular road project was received by technical committees to ensure that all works were completed. The ministry then took control of the road to monitor any observations related to protection and safety measures.

He pointed out that the ring road is flat and smooth, and does not suffer any dangerous movements, or horizontal heights, and most of the incidents that occurred were due to misuse by some drivers, including an accident before the opening of the road, because of the reverse driving direction, One of the slots before the end of the work.

He added that the ministry allocated a tunnel under the road in the area of ​​Fahalin, to discharge the water to Wadi Naqab, and to the agricultural areas, explaining that the ministry has made the tunnel for the drainage of rainwater without using it by vehicles, for the sake of public safety.
