The DRC is undergoing a historic transition. After 18 years in power, President Joseph Kabila hands over this Thursday to Felix Tshisekedi. The opponent of the UDP, historic party, was declared winner of the presidential election of December 30 last. He becomes the fifth president of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

11:00 am: The ceremony must start in a few minutes at the Palais de la Nation in Kinshasa. In front of the building, about a thousand activists of the UDPS of Felix Tshisekedi and the UNC of Vital Kamerhe made the trip. There are also supporters of the Common Front for Congo (FCC), a coalition that includes Joseph Kabila's party. The atmosphere is good child although security has been greatly enhanced.
