The Ukrainian authorities arrested in the port of Mariupol more than 3 thousand tons of products of the Alchevsk Metallurgical Plant located in the territory of the Luhansk People's Republic. This was announced on Thursday, November 1, by the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko.
According to him, this cargo was transported by ship under the flag of Liberia from the “Russian port” to Belgium. At the same time, the Prosecutor General said that the persons involved would be held accountable under the article of the Criminal Code of Ukraine on the financing of terrorism (Article 258-5 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, from 5 to 12 years in prison).

The Prosecutor General of Ukraine announced the arrest of the ship’s cargo by posting a corresponding message on Facebook; on the photograph he published, the name of the vessel is visible - Comet. At the same time, it is not yet known whether the vessel itself and its crew were detained.
According to the data tracking the movement of ships of the Marine Traffic, Vessel Finder and AIS Tracker portals, in the port of Mariupol there is a cargo ship Comet, which is flying the flag of Liberia and is operated by the German company Blumenthal JMK.
The ship entered the Ukrainian port on the afternoon of October 28, and on November 10 it was supposed to arrive in Antwerp, Belgium. And the previous port, in which the cargo ship came, was the Russian Temryuk in the Krasnodar Territory. According to open data, Comet stayed in this port from October 24 to 27.
At the time of publication of the material, representatives of the Russian authorities or the owner of the vessel did not make official statements regarding the situation with the ship, so there is no information about the number and composition of the crew of the cargo ship.

Also, the sanctions will affect 68 legal entities controlled by the leading Ukrainian businessmen, including billionaires Viktor Pinchuk and Gennady Bogolyubov. The decision was taken to counteract the unfriendly and contrary to international law steps of Kiev in relation to Russian citizens and enterprises.
Financial restrictions imply “freezing” of non-cash funds, non-documentary securities and property in the territory of the Russian Federation, as well as a ban on the withdrawal of funds outside Russia.
“Russia is not the initiator of such a restrictive exchange: this is a necessary measure - this is a response to the steps that were taken by the Ukrainian side,” said Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the Russian president.
Note that in Kiev they called the actions of Moscow an expected step. According to the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, the Russian restriction more affected "decent people."
“In Ukraine, being on this list is like a state award,” said the Ukrainian leader.
In turn, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the state, Pavel Klimkin, compared the incident with the "teaser" of the serial series. According to him, the aim of Moscow is allegedly an attempt to influence Ukraine against the background of the elections. At the same time, ex-Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk believes that individuals who fell under Russian special economic measures are “patriots of Ukraine”.

Recall, this is not the first detention of the ship by the Ukrainian authorities in the Sea of Azov. The most resonant in this regard was the history of the fishing vessel “Nord” registered in the Crimea and its crew. The ship was detained by Ukrainian border guards on March 25 in the area permitted for navigation and escorted to the port of Berdyansk. The crew and the captain of the trawler Vladimir Gorbenko were charged with various charges.
In April, two crew members managed to return home, while the rest of the sailors continued to hold on the territory of Ukraine, since Kiev considered them to be their citizens (despite Russian passports).
