"Cave Russophobia": in the UK call to be ready to resist the latest weapons of Russia
Britain must be ready to withstand the latest weapons of Russia, believes United Kingdom Defense Minister Gavin Williamson. He also accused Moscow of violating the provisions of the INF. Earlier on Monday, several British news agencies published fragments of the speech of the head of the military department. It became known in advance that Williamson would announce some "provocations" on the part of the Russian Federation, which allegedly forced NATO countries to increase the defense budget. According to analysts, the Minister of Defense of Great Britain is one of the leaders of the anti-Russian campaign in London. At the same time, experts point out that the leakage of speech in the media, most likely, was a planned action.
British Defense Secretary Gavin Williamson said that London should be ready if necessary to withstand the threat from the latest Russian weapons.
“We must resolutely resist Russia's non-compliance with the Treaty on the Elimination of Intermediate-Range and Shorter-Range Missiles (INF). If necessary, be ready to cope with the threat that a new Russian missile system may pose, ”the minister said.
Earlier on Monday, Reuters published fragments of the speech of the Minister of Defense of Great Britain Gavin Williamson, with whom, according to the agency, he should speak in the near future. It is reported that the defense minister will talk about the close military ties between the US and the UK, as well as about London’s intention to support the call by US President Donald Trump for NATO countries to increase defense spending to better cope with the so-called “Russian provocation”.
“(NATO. - RT ) should develop the ability to cope with those provocations that Russia is satisfied with respect to us. The Russian Federation must pay a high price for such actions, ”says Williamson’s speech.
As noted, the head of the Ministry of Defense of the United Kingdom said that after Brexit, Great Britain, it is necessary to use military force to support global interests. According to published fragments, Williamson believes that the boundaries between war and peace are increasingly blurred.
Excerpts from the upcoming speech by Williamson are also given by the Press Association. According to the agency, the British minister will also declare the need to use force against countries that "scoff at international law."
If you do not back up words with actions, all the power of our country risks to look something fictitious.
“If you do not back up words with actions, all the power of our country risks looking fictitious,” said Williamson.
The State Duma noted that if the media did contain excerpts from Williamson's speech, his statements can be perceived as a way of boosting the atmosphere in Europe. According to Alexei Chapa, deputy chairman of the State Duma’s international affairs committee, this is being done in order to justify the expansion of military financing. According to the deputy, London in this case acts under the dictation of Washington.
“Trump’s statement about the increasing contributions of all NATO members and supporting the British deeply in this is an old song, it’s absolutely clear what it is dictated by. The main supplier of weapons to NATO countries is the United States and Anglo-Saxon financial structures close to them. Naturally, this is a direct lobbying of those American structures that are engaged in the production of armaments, ”he said in an interview with RT.
Chepa also added that in order to achieve this goal, “they will tell tales about the“ threat ”from Russia.

"The era of post-truth"
While data on the upcoming speech of Williamson is not confirmed, however, it is not the first time that the text of future speeches of British politicians gets into the media. According to Yury Pochta, a professor at the Department of Comparative Political Science at RUDN University, such stuffing is not accidental.
“Leaks are special. Since we live in the post-truth era, this is quite an effective method. This is part of the information war and psychological warfare. Now we see a stage of militarization of Western countries, a decrease in the use of diplomacy and the strengthening of overt pressure from opponents, ”the expert explained in an interview with RT.
According to him, after the collapse of the USSR, when a balance of forces in the world collapsed, "the West went on the offensive." Now much attention has been paid to power politics. According to Yury Pochta, Russia is a long-time geopolitical opponent of Great Britain, but now it must be borne in mind that in Great Britain it is going through difficult times because of the actual impasse with Brexit.
“Britain is throwing the EU into a very difficult, crisis period of its existence, but I would like to lead the Europeans in some directions. And in this case, decided to lead in this direction (the direction of attacks on Russia. - RT ), but, in my opinion, it is a dead end, "- concluded the analyst.

Vladimir Olenchenko, a senior fellow at the Center for European Studies at the Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences, also notes that the leading British agencies, most likely, received the text of the speech of the Minister of Defense by chance.
“Either this is not the proper order in these institutions, or the one who speaks has decided to promote himself. Most likely, this is a deliberate leak, - explained the RT expert. - And, of course, it is directed not so much to a wide circle of people, so much to future listeners, that is, to other participants in the meeting, so that they know the mood and understand what is expected of them. Apparently, this is a new fashionable reception by Western politicians. ”
Olenchenko also considers it logical that anti-Russian statements will be voiced by Gavin Williamson. As the analyst notes, he did it earlier and in a fairly rigid form.
“I think, no offense to Williamson, for this he is kept as Minister of Defense. In principle, if you take his entire range of statements addressed to Russia, this is not the crudest. I don’t know how he is in the field of building British defense, but in terms of aggressive Russophobia, cave Russophobia, he is one of “the best students of the class,” the expert concluded.
In March last year, the UK unsuccessfully accused Moscow of involvement in the poisoning of a former GRU employee Sergey Skrypal and his daughter Yulia. After that, London expelled Russian diplomats from the country. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Moscow would respond in a mirror manner to the actions of London, and then British Defense Secretary Gavin Williamson advised Russia to "leave and shut up."
“Russia's actions in Salisbury are absolutely outrageous and unacceptable. We have responded and in fact Russia must go and shut up, ”said the British minister.
In addition, according to Williamson, Russia uses its military capabilities to "undermine order throughout the world."
In September 2018, Williamson announced a new defense strategy in the Arctic region, which was conceived as a confrontation against the “threat from Russia”. He also called for an increase in the financed military sphere of Great Britain.
In Russia, on the other hand, they have repeatedly stated that Moscow is committed to the development of diplomatic relations with other countries and is always ready for dialogue.
As Secretary of the Security Council of Russia Nikolai Patrushev said earlier, London assumed the “role of the standard-bearer of the anti-Russian campaign” in order to raise the authority of the current government, falling against the background of brexit.
