The pensioner remained on the way to the doctor: Three helpful police officers helped a 96-year-old car driver in North Rhine-Westphalia in a breakdown - and changed the rear wheel.

The man in Witten in the Ruhr area had previously addressed the police, the officials said. The riot police were out for a traffic check - and grabbed on Thursday without further ado and mounted the spare tire.

A policewoman also called the doctor and postponed the appointment. The 96-year-old had thanked with a hand kiss and drove on.
