Because of a confusion, the police on Saturday night armed with submachine guns stormed a hotel in the Hamburg district of St. George: Suspected they had there - according to the evidence of a witness - a suspected double murderer, which is searched throughout Europe. This is reported by the "Hamburger Abendblatt".

But they have apparently only encountered a man who could be his doppelganger: "Task forces have searched the rooms of the hotel and then met a man who looks very similar to what you are looking for," said a spokesman for the police service of the newspaper. It was therefore a tourist.

The police then stopped the operation and left the other guests of the hotel back in the building.

The man the police are actually looking for has been on the run for more than a year: since the end of October 2017, he has been searched for. His name is Friedrich Felzmann and he comes from Austria.

The 67-year-old is suspected of having killed two people in his birthplace Stiwoll in Styria with a rifle and seriously injured a person. Thereafter, he is said to have fled his car in a nearby forest area. From there he evidently continued his escape on foot. The State Criminal Police Office of Styria has released a reward of 5000 euros for clues leading to the arrest of Felzmann.

According to the "Hamburger Abendblatt" on Saturday evening a bus driver, originally from Austria, who was known for the search, wanted to see Felzmann. Accordingly, he had watched as the wanted rose in a taxi on St. Pauli. He then alerted the police, according to the newspaper.
