The former world boxing champion Regina Halmich has been harassed for years by a stalker. The 42-year-old said to Südwestrundfunk (SWR): "There was a fan here who wanted more, and he lurked me everywhere - no matter which of my performances, when I came, he was always there."

The man pursued a special trick. "He always had a home-baked cake he wanted to give me, and what I initially thought was very nice - because he had gone to so much trouble - made me feel more and more queasy," said Halmich.

He always wanted to get close to her and sought personal contact. "At some point he became so obtrusive that I had to be protected from him at every one of my bodyguards' appearances, he just did not give up, it went on for three whole years," said Halmich, who was unbeaten World Champion from 1995-2007 and the women's Boxes in Germany has made popular.

The stalker only stopped when he met another woman. All this has kept her busy "for a long time, I never wanted to talk about it, but now after a long time it's okay," Halmich said.
