Ryan and Mellencamp have been a couple since 2010 at times. After several separations they found together again last year. Previously, the musician was dating the former supermodel Christie Brinkley.
The 67-year-old rock and folk singer and five-time father was divorced in 2011 by his third wife, ex-model Elaine Irwin. Ryan married her colleague Dennis Quaid in 1991, with whom she has a son. The marriage lasted ten years. As a single mother, Ryan adopted a little girl from China in 2006.

Ryan established himself as an all-American sweetheart with romantic comedies like "Harry and Sally" and "Sleepless in Seattle": smiling, cute, nice, in movies, on billboards, on magazine titles. After a break of several years, she was part of the romantic women's comedy "The Women - Of Big and Little Affairs" in 2008.
Ryan once told the SPIEGEL that they did not care how people perceived or portrayed them: "It's good that I do not care if others think I'm too smooth, too weird, too cute, or too stupid."
