In the process of a deadly knife attack on a physician in Baden-Württemberg, the prosecutor has called for the placement of the alleged perpetrator in psychiatry. The 27-year-old asylum seeker had acted in the attack in a doctor's office in Offenburg in delusion and suffer from a mental illness, said the prosecutor.

The defendant poses a high risk to the general public that there is a high risk of further serious crimes, according to the prosecutor. This has confirmed a psychiatric report.

That the defendant was the perpetrator, was undisputed, said the prosecutor. In mid-August 2018 he had killed the 52-year-old general practitioner in his practice with numerous knife wounds and injured a physician assistant.

According to the indictment, the man from the African city of Djibouti sought revenge for what he considered a faulty medical treatment. He obviously assumed that he had been poisoned by the doctor at a previous blood draw. There is no other motive. The doctor leaves a wife and the common, ten-year-old daughter.

The court wants to announce the judgment in the process on 12 March.
