A nine-year-old from Hesse has devised a special tactic to earn money: He rang the bell with neighbors, showed them a 50-euro note and claimed to have found it on their doorstep. The boy hoped for a finder's reward, police said in Bad Vilbel on Monday. The bills came, according to the police, however, from the savings of the parents.

Some neighbors took the supposedly lost bill and gave the boy a finder's reward. One man, however, became skeptical and called the police.

The officials found in the boy a bag of around 2700 euros. According to police, the nine-year-old had the complete savings of his parents. When they recounted, therefore missing around 260 euros.

It can be assumed that the boy was successful on at least five doors. Why the boy gave away the money was initially unclear. The police called the recipients of the bills to sign up and return the money.
