The US Justice has charged two sons of convicted Mexican drug boss Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán with drug trafficking. The indictment was published one and a half weeks after the verdict against "El Chapo" in New York.

34-year-old Joaquín Guzmán López aka "El Güero" (the blonde) and his six-year-younger brother Ovidio Guzmán López aka "El Ratón" (the mouse) are accused of injecting cocaine, chystal meth and marijuana between April 2008 and April 2018 Smuggling Mexico into the US, the US Department of Justice said. It is believed that the brothers currently live in Mexico.

The indictment had already been prepared in April 2018. But it was kept under lock and key to "protect the safety of witnesses" and not to interfere with the investigation, the US agency said. The two defendants are considered members of the Sinaloa cartel co-founded by their father.
