In the mouth of the Elbe near Cuxhaven, preparations have started for the salvage of a chemical tanker that has run aground during the night. According to the Havariekommandos, no damage has been reported to date on the ship carrying 9000 tonnes of dangerous goods. The crew is therefore well.

Six tugs are now on site. They should try to tow the "Panamanian flagship" "Oriental Nadeshiko" with the noon flood.

Four tugs hold the tanker in position while two tugs prepare for the salvage attempt scheduled at 1.30pm. A directional ship controls the position of the ship. A fire brigade of the fire department and an expert of the Havariekommando are to be brought aboard.

According to the German operations center for distress, the 124 meter long ship is loaded with flammable liquids. It is mainly used as an anti-knock additive in fuels ethylene dichloride and used as hydraulic and solvent propylene glycol.

The tanker had run aground about ten kilometers east of Cuxhaven in the Elbe estuary. The cause of the accident was still unclear.
