An accident involving two school buses in Middle Franconia injured children and adults. Five of them were seriously injured, a local police spokesman said.

At least four people had been freed in the afternoon by the fire department with heavy equipment from the rubble of buses. 15 more people were slightly injured. According to the police, the two buses collided on a connecting road between Ammerndorf and Zirndorf in the district of Fürth. Another vehicle drove to the accident site.

How it came to the accident was initially unclear. Police, fire and rescue services were in full operation. Three rescue helicopters and a police helicopter were also on duty, bringing injured people to the clinics. A collection point has been set up for the parents and other relatives of the children.
