The renowned American Film Institute (AFI) announced on Tuesday which films rank among the top ten in 2018. The annual selection by film experts and critics is considered the harbinger of the Academy Awards. Usually, several films from the AFI list are also among the Oscar candidates in the top section "Best Film".

The following films made it to the top ten list of AFI:

The selected filmmakers will be honored on January 4 in Los Angeles during a solemn ceremony. The 91st Oscar Gala will take place at the end of February.
