CAN 2024: Moroccan coach Walid Regragui suspended four matches by CAF

Three days after the heated end of the match between Morocco and DR Congo on the second day of Group F, the Confederation of African Football delivered the verdict of its investigation into the altercation between Walid Regragui and defender Chancel Mbemba.

After the announcement of an investigation to clarify the circumstances of the altercation between Moroccan coach Walid Regragui and Congolese defender Chancel Mbemba at the end of the match between the two teams on Sunday January 21, the CAF verdict finally fell .

And according to the authority, it is Walid Regragui who would be the only one responsible in this affair since CAF sentenced him to a suspension of four matches, two of which were suspended.

The Moroccan coach should therefore not sit on the bench this Wednesday evening against Zambia and he could potentially not find him before the quarter-finals of this African Cup of Nations, if his players reach this stage.

The Moroccan federation, however, immediately announced that it would appeal this decision, which it describes as “

 incomprehensible 

”.

Following the binding decision of the Disciplinary Commission of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to suspend the coach of the Moroccan National “A” team, Mr. Walid Regragui for four matches, two of which were suspended after the acts which occurred at the end of the Morocco-DRC match (1-1), the Royal Moroccan Football Federation decided to appeal this incomprehensible decision due to the fact that coach Regragui did not violate at no time the spirit of fair play
