At an intersection in Erfurt, a 37-year-old is said to have forced a woman and her son to get out of their car.

While escaping by car, he threw tools at police officers and smashed a balcony door.

The 37-year-old suspect was finally arrested, the police said.

He was under drugs.

The man is also accused of other crimes: He is said to have broken into a car repair shop in Erfurt at the weekend, stolen a car and broken through a gate.

He then got out of this vehicle at an intersection to steal the car of the driver who was driving with her twelve-year-old son.

In Elxleben (Sömmerda district) he then tried to steal several vans.

He then fled.

The man was found and arrested during a search that also involved the use of a helicopter and a sniffer dog.

The resulting material damage amounts to a total of more than 40,000 euros.
