In order to provide relief to victims of the former Unification Church, the government has compiled support measures that include strengthening the system to respond to a wide range of consultations from victims, with the Japan Legal Support Center (Houterasu) at its core.

Concerning the issue of the former Unification Church, the government is steadily moving forward with relief efforts for victims, taking into account the fact that last year legislation was put in place to allow the state to timely grasp the asset status of religious corporations for which dissolution orders were requested. To do so, the first meeting of the relevant ministers was held on the 19th, and specific support measures were compiled.

Among these efforts,

▽With the legal terrace at the core, we will strengthen the system that can respond to a wide range of consultations from victims.

▽In order to improve the quality of consultation responses, we will conduct consultations with former believers who know the actual situation of victimization as instructors. We are planning to hold a training session for staff.

In addition,

we will increase the number of school counselors and other staff in order to create an environment where so-called "second-generation religious" children and young people can easily seek advice. We will also provide

housing, work and study support for financially disadvantaged victims. We also plan to enhance support.

Chief Cabinet Secretary Hayashi stated, ``We have compiled measures to enhance and strengthen support for victims.I hope that the relevant ministries and agencies will work together closely and move forward with these efforts.''
