In New York and several other U.S. East Coast metropolises, the longest period without snow on record has come to an end after more than 700 days. According to meteorologists, about four centimeters of fresh snow were measured in Central Park in Manhattan.

In the metropolises of Baltimore and Philadelphia, among other places, it snowed measurably for the first time in 701 days – to the annoyance of some people, whose way to work was made more difficult, and to the delight of others, who went straight to the parks on sledges. In the course of the day, however, the snowfall should turn into rain again in many places.

In numerous winters in recent years, it had snowed a lot in New York. Last winter, however, a few flakes had fallen from the sky from time to time, but the snow had not measurably remained on the ground.
