Due to the problem of street trees dying in front of various stores of the used car dealership "Big Motor", the Tokyo Metropolitan Government has started work to replant the street trees in front of the stores where the herbicide component was detected.

In a survey conducted by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government in August last year, herbicide components were detected in nine of the 8 "Big Motor" stores along the Tokyo Expressway, and after the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's payment order, the company paid about 14 million yen for restoration costs.

In response to this, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government began the work of replanting the street trees in front of the store on the 15th, and a landscaper replanted about 60 shrubs in front of the "Kan Yasei Tagaya Store" in Setagaya Ward.

Landscapers used shovels to remove dead trees, then replaced the soil and planted shrubs.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government also replants the remaining eight sites where the herbicide component was detected, and hopes to finish it by the end of next month.

Tomohiro Sakashita, director of the Planning Division of the Tokyo Metropolitan Parks and Green Spaces Department, said, "Street trees are important greenery that is familiar to the citizens of Tokyo, so I am glad that the Tokyo Metropolitan Government was able to carry out the restoration work.
