Wuxi, December 12 (Reporter Sun Quan) On the evening of the 26th, the beautiful silk and bamboo melody reverberated in the concert hall of the Wuxi Grand Theater in Jiangsu, and the 25 New Year's Concert of the Wuxi Chinese Orchestra "The Beauty of Folk Music" was played here. The concert kicked off with the East-meets-West percussion concerto "New Century in the Year of the Dragon", with an auspicious and festive theme melody and drums, which instantly ignited the atmosphere of the audience.

The pipa concerto "Cloud Wants to Think of Flowers" leads the audience into the night banquet of the Tang Palace with "Spring Breeze Blowing Revlon", the national orchestra "Menghua Jiangnan" "presents" the picturesque scenery of Jiangnan one by one, the tin opera and the orchestra "Peony Pavilion - Garden Dream" interprets the most classic romance, and the mountain song and rock "Xintianyou Caprice" shows the passion of the loess high slope, and the "Silk Road" with the fusion of characteristic musical instruments dreams back to the millennium... At the concert site, the performers' superb performance skills and energetic folk music allowed the audience to wander in the ancient charm of the national style and feel the beauty of folk music in the flowing notes.

As a national historical and cultural city and the birthplace of Wu culture, Wuxi has a long musical tradition. As early as more than 400 years ago, Wuxi organized and established the "Tianyun Society", which focuses on folk music performances and Kunqu opera singing, which is well-known in the south of the Yangtze River. In modern times, Wuxi's music industry has produced many celebrities, such as A Bing, who is full of sorrow and sorrow, and Liu Tianhua, who is known as the grandmaster of modern Chinese folk music and the originator of erhu, Zheng Jinwen, who revitalizes folk music and cultivates talents, and famous erhu performers Min Huifen and Deng Jiandong and famous composer Wang Jianmin also have an important and extensive influence in the contemporary folk music industry.

In recent years, Wuxi has successively held the "A Bing Music and Art Festival" and the "Chinese Music Golden Bell Award Erhu Competition", which has the reputation of "the hometown of folk music" and "the hometown of Chinese erhu", and thus occupies a place in the history of Chinese music.

As the youngest professional Chinese orchestra in China, the Wuxi Chinese Orchestra has been continuously excavating and expressing the cultural content of Chinese music with Jiangnan characteristics since its establishment, and has successively launched large-scale original national concerts "Guangming Xing", "Menghua Jiangnan" and a number of original national orchestral works, and has always been committed to telling the story of Wuxi and spreading the sound of Wuxi.

The 2024 New Year's Concert of Wuxi Chinese Orchestra "The Beauty of Folk Music" aims to use folk music to tell the story of Wuxi, spread the sound of Wuxi, and show the image of Wuxi. At the concert, erhu virtuoso Deng Jiandong also joined hands with the Wuxi Youth Chinese Orchestra and 100 primary and secondary school students to perform "My Motherland" on the same stage, expressing their love and affectionate praise for the motherland.
