Football: Nigerian Victor Osimhen extends Napoli contract extension until 2026
Highly coveted on the transfer market, Nigerian international Victor Osimhen has officially extended his contract with Napoli until 2026, according to a message published by the club on social networks on Saturday, December 23.

Victor Osimhen has made his choice: the Nigerian international striker and Napoli's major attacking asset, coveted by several English clubs, has finally decided to extend his contract with the Neapolitan club by one year, until 2026.
The announcement was made public on Saturday, December 23 by the reigning Italian champions. "Victor and Napoli together until 2026," the club posted on social media, along with a photo showing Osimhen alongside Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis.

Napoli did not give any further details on the financial aspect of the new contract signed by the Nigerian. But according to the Italian press, it could include a release clause of between €120 million and €130 million in order to protect his player from possible offers from English clubs, who are usually very active in the transfer market.
The player had been approached by major European clubs and a Saudi Arabian team during the summer, but Aurelio De Laurentiis had rebuffed all approaches.
Voted the 2023 African Player of the Year on 11 December, Osimhen has scored 67 goals in 118 games played in total for Napoli since his arrival in 2020. He finished as Serie A's top scorer with 26 goals last season, capped by an Italian league title in June, the first won since 1990 under Diego Maradona. This season, the Nigerian has so far scored seven goals in the Italian league.
