Chinanews.com, Beijing, December 12 -- The "Survey Report on China's Public Low-carbon Awareness and Low-carbon Behavior Network" was released at the side event of the 11th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP10) on the 28th "Low-carbon Consumption and Green Supply Chain Carbon Reduction". The report shows that the respondents' low-carbon behaviors such as "CD-ROM action" and "green travel" are highly consistent with the practice of low-carbon awareness.

The report finds that the Chinese public's low-carbon awareness and low-carbon behavior have taken on new characteristics. In terms of low-carbon awareness, the public's awareness of climate change and low-carbon life is relatively high, reaching 81.1% and 86.7% respectively, but the awareness rate of new concepts such as the "dual carbon" goal and the "carbon inclusive" mechanism is only 75% and 75.6% respectively, which needs to be further improved.

In terms of low-carbon behaviors, there is a "difference between knowledge and action" between the public's low-carbon awareness rate and low-carbon behaviors in the fields of food, housing, travel, work, and shopping. It is worth noting that the respondents' low-carbon behaviors such as "CD-ROM action" and "green travel" are more consistent with the practice of low-carbon awareness. According to the report, this is related to the formulation and improvement of relevant policies, the initiation of public environmental protection actions, and the active participation of enterprises and social organizations.

In terms of low-carbon meal behavior, the best practice of the respondents was "ordering food in moderation when eating in canteens and restaurants, and practicing the CD-ROM action", and 88.9% of respondents "always do" and "often do". In terms of low-carbon travel, the best practice of the respondents is "taking public transportation such as buses and subways instead of driving or taking a taxi", and 85.9% of respondents "always do" and "often do". 83.9% of respondents said that "bicycles are used instead of cars for daily short-distance travel", and that "they always do" and "often do".

In China, the response to climate change is not only the government, but also the public. The report recommends that various low-carbon consumption infrastructure and services should be improved and improved, and the convenience of the public to use low-carbon infrastructure and services should be improved. Through the "carbon inclusion" mechanism and platform, the public can benefit from practicing low-carbon behaviors; Promote the coordination and cooperation of the government, enterprises and the public in the carbon emission reduction action on the consumer side.

The report is funded by the China Environmental Protection Foundation and organized by Green Puhui Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd. Tang Dingding, honorary chairman of the Green Trade and Investment Committee of the Chinese Society of Environmental Sciences, said that the public domain is an important area to promote the implementation of the dual carbon goals, and this study improved the accuracy and statistical robustness of the data by obtaining more than 1,<> survey samples for quantitative analysis.
