The public prosecutor's office in Frankfurt am Main is investigating a former nurse on suspicion of sexual abuse. He is accused of injecting a patient "against her will and without medical indication with a sedative drug in order to then enable a sexual assault," a spokesman for the public prosecutor's office said. Previously, the »Bild« newspaper had reported.

According to the authority, it is a 35-year-old suspect. The alleged period of the offence is given as 12 and 13 August 2023. With regard to the investigation, the spokesman did not provide any further details.

According to research by the »Bild« newspaper, the accused worked at the University Hospital Frankfurt. A spokesman for the clinic said that the clinic had "issued a notice of termination without notice in this context and filed a criminal complaint." He, too, did not provide any further information because of the ongoing proceedings.

At the University Hospital, there are numerous precautions against sexual assault, said the spokesman: A protection concept is set out in a binding service instruction. Managers are sensitized in training courses. Information is available on the intranet. In recent months, a checklist for dealing with possible crimes has been developed.
