The Torch Tower will be built near the Japan Bridge Exit of Tokyo Station, which is being redeveloped by Mitsubishi Estate, a major real estate company.

On the 27th, a groundbreaking ceremony was held with the attendance of related parties and prayed for the safety of the construction.

Scheduled for completion in March 2028, it will include an office floor that can accommodate approximately 3,2 people, as well as residences, a luxury hotel, and a hall that can accommodate up to 2000,<> people.

The area around the building will be named "Tokyo Torch" and there will be a plaza and restaurants.

Atsushi Nakajima, President of Mitsubishi Estate: "The supply of offices is increasing in Tokyo,
but we would like to aim to be the building of choice by selling the tallest Japan."

In the vicinity of Tokyo Station, the 3-story Tokyo Midtown Yaesu building that houses offices and commercial facilities opened in March, and several redevelopment projects are planned.

The world's largest building is 828 meters

Overseas, skyscrapers exceeding 828 meters are being built one after another, including the "Burj Khalifa" in the UAE = United Arab Emirates, which is the tallest in the world at 500 meters.

I compared the skyscrapers and towers of the world and Japan.

Of all the high-rise buildings in Japan so far, Abeno Harukas in Osaka is the tallest.

Of the top five, Osaka has three, and Tokyo and Yokohama have one each.

And the ranking includes the plans for completion and opening in the next five years or so.

The number of skyscrapers will increase in Tokyo, with three in Tokyo and one each in Yokohama and Osaka among the top five.

Why is there so much construction of high-rise buildings in Tokyo?

Tokyo Kantei, a real estate research company, said, "Due in part to the spread of remote work due to the influence of the new coronavirus, places that can attract many people tend to be limited to urban centers where offices, residences, and commercial facilities are concentrated,
and where convenience is high.
On the other hand, even if it is expected to attract customers, it is becoming more difficult to acquire land in these areas every year. Under these circumstances, major real estate companies are taking advantage of their strengths in land acquisition and building development to build high-rise buildings with a large capacity in the wake of redevelopment."
