According to the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, the number of patients with the new coronavirus increased for the third consecutive week to 3.1 on average per medical institution in the week ending March 1.

Regarding this, Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare Kato stated at a press conference after the Cabinet meeting, "It cannot be said that it has peaked out yet, and we must pay close attention, and the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare will take necessary measures by firmly controlling the situation regarding the congestion of medical institutions and the mutation of the virus."

On top of that, he said, "I would like you to take appropriate measures such as receiving medical treatment when you are not feeling well, and in some cases, wearing a mask," and called for basic infection control measures.
