Euphoria on the eve of the Planeta Prize celebration: the general director of the publishing group, José Creuheras, has announced that the prize best endowed with Spanish letters

increases its amount considerably

and will go from 600,000 euros to

one million in this edition

. The finalist goes from 150,000 euros to 200,000 euros. In this way, the prize

surpasses the Nobel Prize for Literature, which awards its winner 990,000 euros

and thus becomes the best gifted in the world.

The change was announced by surprise this Thursday at the Llotja de Mar in Barcelona.

That figure did not appear in the current bases of the award, but as Creuheras has stated, "we believe that the winner will not complain."

The award celebrates 70 years

with a string of winners including from Ana María Matute to Eduardo Mendoza, through Javier Cercas and Dolores Redondo.

At the delivery ceremony tomorrow Friday, the first to be held almost normally after the pandemic, the Kings are expected to attend.
