The Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property has launched a new law to protect the intellectual rights of tweeters, from creators, public figures, or even ordinary tweeters on Twitter and social networking sites.

The new decision, called "Do not steal it", sparked widespread controversy on social networking sites in the Kingdom.

Faisal Al-Madhi, supervisor of the Intellectual Property Inspection Supervisor, said that the authority seeks, through the "Do not Steal It" campaign, to protect the rights of creators and authors through social media, especially the owners of tweets. Year.

Article 14 of the executive regulations of the copyright protection system, which the authority published on its website, states: “Any reproduction of the work during performance, such as photocopying or recording it for the purpose of exploitation or transmission to the public without the consent of the right holders, is considered an infringement of the copyright.”

Article 22 of the copyright protection system in Saudi Arabia states that “infringers of intellectual property rights shall be held accountable, with penalties including imprisonment for a period not exceeding six months and a fine of not more than two hundred and fifty thousand Saudi riyals.”
